A iniciativa Earth Alliance, recém-criada pelo ator Leonardo DiCaprio, por Lauren Jobs (viúva de Steve Jobs) e pelo bilionário Brian Sheth (da GWC), vai doar US$ 5 milhões (R$ 20,6 milhões) para ONGs ambientais e indígenas brasileiras.

O anúncio foi feito na tarde deste domingo (25), por DiCaprio, em seu Twitter.

A doação às iniciativas da sociedade civil para o combate dos incêndios corresponde a mais da metade do que o governo federal liberou para o mesmo fim, R$ 38,5 milhões.

A Earth Alliance lançou o Fundo Emergencial para a Amazônia. De acordo com DiCaprio, novas doações estão sendo captadas de celebridades e filantropos.
